Who Are We
SafeCare at Home is a resource that will provide you with the skills, knowledge, and the confidence you need to provide care for someone at home. Family caregivers often do not feel prepared to care for someone in the home. Some persons need short term help after a surgery or injury, or they need long term assistance. SafeCare at Home has the information to help you perform the day to day care activities needed to keep a person healthy and safe.
SafeCare at Home was developed by Dr. Patricia Potter, a nurse researcher and author, who has co-written the leading skills manual for nurses over the last 25 years. Her textbook, “Clinical Nursing Skills and Techniques, 7th edition” is the international leader in nursing skills books. Dr. Potter is a director of SafeCare at Home LLC.
Dr. Potter earned her PhD in nursing while studying family caregiving. The lessons in the SafeCare at Home program have been written and reviewed by Potter Creations LLC, along with expert consultants in home health and advanced practice nursing. The information in our care lessons is evidence-based; this means that we have made sure the information is based on the most recent scientific information available.
The challenge of taking care of someone is complex, because every person is different and has their own needs. SafeCare at Home provides current, accurate and relevant information to help family caregivers gain the knowledge and understanding needed to make the right decisions about the persons they care for and to manage their daily care needs.
